The Choir

In the Catholic Church, the choir has a distinct ministerial role. Its primary purpose is not to perform or entertain, but to lead, support and enhance the active participation of the entire congregation in the liturgy.

Leading the Assembly: The choir guides the congregation in singing hymns, responses, and liturgical chants so that the people can worship fully and confidently.

Enhancing the Music: By adding harmonies, descants, or singing specific parts (like the Gloria or choral motets) at designated times, the choir enriches the prayer experience and adds solemnity and beauty to the Mass.
